Hunting At Four Seasons Resort

Four Seasons Resort in West Finley Pennsylvania is a hunter's paradise. Eight hundred private acres of pristine woodlands and open fields are bisected by nine miles of A.T.V. and hiking trails. Next to over 1000 acres of state gameland and several thousand acres of coal company reserve, Four Seasons Offers dome of the richest hunting in Pennsylvania. Large flocks of wild turkeys inhabit the woods and field borders. Grouse explode from the brush as hikers pass. Large squirrels chatter from trees. Rabbits scurry from bush to bush.

During deer season the true bounty available at Four Seasons becomes apparent. Throughout spring and summer talk among hunters turns time and again to " the big one" seen in passing through the rich green landscape. Talk intensifies throughout the fall until finally " the big day" arrives.

As the long night wanes hunters gather at the lodge restaurant for a hearty breakfast with friends. By dawn all are in the field. It does not long before many return. It does not take Four Season's hunters long after the season begins for the first deer.

A cheerful fire crackles in the huge stone fireplace as hunters slowly make their way in from the cold. Cups of Coffee steam in slowly thawing hands while the enticing smells of frying bacon and sausage waft in from the kitchen. Jokes are shared and tales of hunts past and present are exchanged. Older men turn away and smile. After decades of coming to this rustic lodge, they have heard these stories before. Cards appear and games are just getting started when a boy throws open the door with an excited shout. .

The beaming smile on his Father's face reveals what most already know. Quickly hunters rush outside and a crowd gathers around the A.T.V.. It is not the biggest buck of the season but is the boy's first. It is his time to join the others in front of the fireplace. As he tells of the shot which brought his quarry to the ground, the old timers stop and listen. Here is a tale they have not heard. Father to son, an American tradition has been passed down.

After a day in the field many hunters enjoy the camaraderie and warmth of the lodge. The restaurant serves hot meals and coffee, video and pool games are played and conversation swirls. Sometimes, Four Season's own musicians pick out tunes on the guitar while luck hunters recall the day's success. Those who will be lucky tomorrow prepare for another early morning.

Many sleep the night away in their own camper on one of Four Season's 200 spacious lots.
